Everyone at the Lake District Calvert Trust is deeply saddened to learn of the closure of Calvert Devon. As separate organisations, the Lake District Calvert Trust is unaffected and remains open.

For 30 years, Calvert Devon has made an important contribution welcoming people with disabilities across the south of England to access exciting outdoor adventures. We recognise the dedication of its staff, volunteers, trustees and supporters and our thoughts are with everyone affected by this difficult news, particularly those who have benefited from its activities, and those whose livelihoods have been impacted.

The charitable sector continues to face significant challenges, including rising operating costs, increased competition for grants and other ongoing funding pressures. While the closure of any charity is deeply regrettable, it’s especially so when it’s a charity with aims so closely aligned to ours.

We are saddened by this development, but we want to reassure our guests, staff, partners, funders and supporters that the Lake District Calvert Trust remains in a strong financial position with healthy sales due this financial year. Through careful financial management, close governance and astute long-term planning, the organisation is well placed to continue delivering its services and pursuing its mission to challenge disability through outdoor adventures.

The Lake District Calvert Trust has a stable financial foundation, a committed team and a clear strategic plan for the future. Our services continue as normal, and we remain focused on supporting those who visit us with inclusive experiences for people of all abilities.
