Your adventure starts here!
From our specialist residential centre on the outskirts of Keswick, we offer individuals, families and groups the chance to experience adventure in the stunning Lake District in a safe and supportive way.
Leading the way in accessible outdoor adventure
The Lake District Calvert Trust welcomes those with disabilities, alongside their friends, families and carers to our specialist outdoor activity centre in the heart of the Lake District. We offer residential activity breaks at Calvert Lakes, a variety of horse-riding sessions at Calvert Stables, and a modern hydrotherapy swimming pool which is available for public use.
Overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake, our fully accessible centre caters to a wide range of needs, with adaptable equipment and inclusive activities designed to be safe and supportive for everyone.
Empowering people with disabilities to challenge themselves in a nurturing environment is what we do best. Our adventure breaks are perfect for groups, families and individuals where our friendly team provide fun activities and plenty of space in a truly breathtaking setting.
Whether you’re visiting the Keswick area and looking for things to do, or you’re after a break in the Lakes, our facilities are perfect for trying new things, spending quality time with loved ones and enjoying the great outdoors. We welcome day visitors to the pool and stables, and overnight stays for those wanting the whole authentic Calvert experience.
Our residential courses come in all shapes and sizes, from relaxed themed weekends or intensive week-long action-packed adventures – and everything in between! Find our activity courses for adults and families online or get in touch with our friendly bookings team to discuss a group stay and check our availability.
We aim to be as flexible and adaptable as possible, ensuring every visit is unique and unforgettable!

Breaks for families
Our family courses are for tribes where one member of the party is under 18 and one member has a disability. Whether an adult with a disability visiting with their partner and children, or a child with a disability coming with adult family members and siblings, we welcome families of all shapes and dynamics.
Our family courses are also suitable for under 18 year olds who may be in care and coming with support workers.
Breaks for individuals
Adult courses are for those aged 18 or over who may be visiting the centre on their own or with a small group of other adults. These activity breaks run across weekends and midweeks and are a great opportunity for adults with disabilities to meet like-minded adventurers.
