Calvert Stables are passionate about promoting excellent horse care and improving the welfare of all horses. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to build on what you already know, our British Horse Society Horse Owners Course is a fantastic opportunity to learn in a supportive and inspiring environment.
No horse? No problem!
You do not need to own your own horse to take part.

Course Details
Week 1: 4th September – routine checks- equine first aid kit, when to call the vet (including TPR, signs of illness and disease prevention).
Week 2: 11th September – wounds- types of wounds, how to stop bleeding and bandaging.
Week 3: 18th September– limb and hoof conditions- how to treat, bandaging and poulticing.
Week 4: 25th September – common/serious equine conditions- laminitis, EMS, Colic and ulcers.
Week 5: 2nd October – teeth and worming- routine care and signs of a problem.
Week 6: 9th October – conditions – eye, skin and general equine conditions.
Duration: 6 week course
When: Friday evenings, 6.30pm – 8.00pm
Cost: £25 per session or book all 6 weeks for £120 to include booklets and certificates
