Originally from the north east, I have lived in Keswick since 1980, working initially as a teacher of chemistry and then in senior management roles including boarding for over 25 years. I then became one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors (HMI) Of Education based in the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber region, leading complex and high profile secondary and primary inspections, presenting nationally on inspection, and leading Ofsted’s work in online safety in all education, early years and social care inspection remits. My latest role was as the Head of Standards, Governance and Safeguarding at a strongly improving multi-academy trust of 10 primary and 10 secondary academies in the north of England. I became a Trustee of the Calvert trust in 2022 and now chair the Audit Committee and continue to support the Trust through the Friends group.
