What are 'open doors' events?
Open Door days and weekends offer group leaders, who haven’t visited Calvert Lakes before, the unique opportunity to visit us for free!
Take a tour of our fully accessible site, check out our accommodation, facilities and location, meet some of the team and work out the logistics of bringing your group to stay. We realise how important it is that the needs of your group are met during their residential breaks, so the chance to ‘try before you buy’ helps plan pin down the details and ensures your group visit is everything you wanted, and more.
We’ve been offered exciting residential breaks for schools, charities and care organisations for 50 years and always go the extra mile to make every visit a fantastic one. We cater to a wide range of complex needs and welcome friends, families and carers along too so everyone can experience adventure together.

What's included during an open doors day?
A day visit is from 10am – 2pm and includes the following:
Full site tour
View our accommodation and facilities
Watch some of our onsite activity sessions (where possible)
Visit Calvert Stables and the boathouse
Meet the team and ask questions
Two course lunch
What's included during an open doors weekend?
A weekend visit is much more comprehensive with arrival from 4pm on Friday and departure after lunch on Sunday. The following is also included:

Join a group and try our exciting adventure activities
Meet the team and ask questions
Two nights accommodation and full board meals
How much does it cost?
Open door events are completely free for new group leaders! We invite up to 2 people from your group organisation, who have not visited us before, so you can experience the magic of Calvert and determine how we can meet the needs of your group.
We ask for a refundable deposit to secure your stay that is returned after attendance. A deposit is £20 for Open Door days and £50 for Open Door weekends.
Do you qualify for financial support?
At Calvert Lakes, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joys of outdoor adventure. We also understand that the cost of a residential stay can be a barrier. Thanks to the hard work of our fundraising team, we have regular releases of bursary funding that can further help support your residential stay with us.
