Where teamwork, communication and fun come together
Challenge activities are an exciting part of every visit to Calvert Lakes. They’re a quintessential activity centre experience, offering entertainment and promoting teamwork in a fun and safe environment. Designed for people of all ages and abilities, and groups of different dynamics, these activities encourage participants to step outside their comfort zones while building confidence and important life skills.
Each activity is carefully supervised by expert instructors to ensure safety while still providing excitement and adventure. Whether participants are climbing to new heights, solving problems as a team, or navigating obstacles, every challenge helps develop confidence, independence and resilience.
Adventure-based challenge experiences are suitable for school trips, youth groups, family days out, and corporate team-building events.
Challenge activities provide more than just entertainment. They create memorable experiences that inspire confidence, encourage teamwork and help people to discover new abilities. With a variety of indoor and outdoor options available, we offer something for everyone, regardless of age or experience. Our guests leave with a sense of achievement, stronger friendships and unforgettable memories of their time here.
“Every single member of the team went above and beyond to create an inclusive, supportive, and fun environment. Nothing was too much trouble, and they consistently adapted activities to make sure every child could participate and feel valued”
Everyone! The beauty of challenge activities is that we can adapt the activity to the needs of any group. Adults, children, teenagers and corporate groups of all ages and abilities can enjoy learning something new in a fun and adventurous environment. Our experienced instructors will discuss your preferred activities with you in advance so everyone can participate together.
Challenge activities might last an hour or two in an evening or be part of your activity programme as a morning or afternoon activity, depending on the preferences of your group. Outdoor sessions will usually be weather dependent, and we can usually be flexible with our itineraries.
The sports hall is the main setting for indoor challenge activities and games. With an adjustable climbing wall and king swing, this space is super flexible and enjoyed by all our guests.
Outside we have a zip wire, archery range, high ropes course and a wheelchair challenge course offering plenty of opportunities to create fun and engaging activities right here.
We leave site for cycling and head to Watchtree Nature Reserve and lake-based activities usually take advantage of our boathouse on Bassenthwaite Lake or our catamaran on Lake Windermere.
Challenge activities can be tailored to the needs of a group and with so many different options, everyone can engage, enjoy and achieve something. We adapt all our activities to the needs of our groups, in consultation with group leaders, so no one is left out.
We’re committed to making our activity breaks accessible to as many people as possible, which is why limited bursary funding is available to help reduce the cost. Because our funding is often restricted, we prioritise those who’d most benefit from financial assistance. While we cannot guarantee support for every enquiry, we encourage anyone facing financial barriers to get in touch. Our team is here to guide you through the process and help you explore the options available.
