Back for 2023, the hugely talented outdoor theatre group Illyria is performing Robin Hood at the stunning location of Lowther Castle in aid of the Friends of Calvert Trust.
The production will take place on Thursday 10 August 2023 at 530 pm. Tickets start at £10 and Lowther Castle has generously included free afternoon entry to the grounds and adventure playground on 10 August for all ticket holders.
From the earliest ballads of Robin Hood, some pre-dating Chaucer, Illyria has created a fast-moving, fun-packed family show, featuring tales of camaraderie, good against evil, swashbuckling action and riotous comedy. The show also includes an archery competition involving the entire audience.
While good King Richard is away fighting the crusades, his friend Robert Fitzooth, under the assumed name of Robin Hood, resolves to relieve corrupt landowners of their wealth, to ruin the inept Sheriff of Nottingham and to do all he can to prevent the power-mad Prince John from seizing the throne.
Said Hannah Richardson, Chair of Friends of the Calvert Trust.
“Come and join us for what promises to be a fantastic evening, raising funds for an amazing Cumbrian charity. Generous sponsorship from local companies means that 100% of ticket sales will come to Friends of the Calvert Trust, supporting us to create outdoor adventures for people with disabilities. Bring the whole family to spend the afternoon at Lowther, have a picnic together and enjoy a wonderful performance. I look forward to seeing you there!”
