An autistic 10-year-old boy has inspired his mum to run the London Marathon in aid of the Lake District Calvert Trust.
Suzanne Yates, 37, from Lincoln will line up alongside 42,000 other runners on 23 April 2023, determined to “give back” to the Lake District Calvert Trust for the life changing impact it has had on her family.
“Our ten-year-old son, Hayden is autistic,” explained Suzanne. “When we were given the opportunity to visit Calvert Lakes as a family back in 2021, we jumped at the chance – but we never imagined the long-lasting impact it would have.
“In just four days at Calvert Lakes, Hayden achieved so much. To see him develop his confidence and to be himself in an environment without judgment was wonderful to see. He was so proud of himself when he completed a zip line and lit his own campfire to toast marshmallows! Our daughter Erin also had a fabulous time making friends with children who understood the ups and downs that come with having an autistic sibling.”
