Activity breaks for people 18 years and over
Here at Calvert Lakes, we offer adult activity breaks for individuals aged 18 years old and over. Guests are welcome to come by themselves and meet like-minded others, or bring their friends or carers along with them. All residential courses include accommodation in our accessible ensuite rooms, full board meals and multiple activity sessions. There are often games and movies in our games room, and guests can use our amazing hydrotherapy pool too.
We organise activity groups by ability, so adults with learning or sensory disabilities, autism or neurodivergence will get the chance to spend time with adults of similar ability. Likewise, adults with physical disabilities, wheelchair users and non-ambulant guests can benefit from activities tailored to mobility requirements.
Although we don’t offer respite care at the centre, our adult guests needing extra support benefit from interconnected rooms, adaptive equipment and accessible facilities ensuring a meaningful adventure experience for even the most complex needs.
Multi-activity breaks at Calvert Lakes include multiple activities – as the name suggests! With dates across two- and three-night weekends, and two-to-four-night midweek stays, there is plenty of opportunity to get stuck in. We offer a wide range of activities based on the needs of your group, some right here onsite at Calvert Lakes and others our in the wider Lake District National Park. Each day offers the chance to try at least two different activities, plus time to chill in the pool or the games room afterwards.
Enjoy a weekend (three night), mid-week (four night) or full week (seven nights) break and take in the gorgeous surroundings of Keswick and the northern Lake District.
Our buddy breaks are for those who are independent for the majority of their day-to-day lives, but may need some support in an unfamiliar environment with new people, routines and settings.
Our multi-activity courses for young adults are for those aged 16 – 25 who may get more out of their visit alongside other young adults, trying new experiences together.
In addition to multi-activity adventure breaks, we offer single activity or themed stays too. Usually shorter at just two nights, our themed breaks celebrate seasonal activities, local events and offer a more low-key and affordable way to experience the magic of Calvert Lakes and the Lake District. If you haven’t been before but are particularly enthusiastic about trying a specific new activity, then our experiences are perfect for you. Usually across a weekend, these single-activity stays allow you to try something new during your two-night stay.
Join us for Easter, or Halloween, the festive season or dark skies in winter. We love celebrating the changing seasons with themed activity breaks in the heart of the Lake District.
Try sailing or cycling, horse riding or climbing, with a dedicated experience weekend at Calvert Lakes. Perfect for adults and families who want to try something new.

We’re committed to making our activity breaks accessible to as many people as possible, which is why limited bursary funding is available to help reduce the cost. Because our funding is often restricted, we prioritise those who’d most benefit from financial assistance. While we cannot guarantee support for every enquiry, we encourage anyone facing financial barriers to get in touch. Our team is here to guide you through the process and help you explore the options available.
