At Calvert Stables, the welfare of our horses is at the centre of everything we do. Each horse has an individual weight limit, carefully assessed by our experienced team based on their size, build, fitness and overall workload. This helps us ensure that every horse remains comfortable, healthy, and able to enjoy their work.
We follow established equine welfare guidelines and regularly monitor each horse’s physical condition, behaviour and emotional wellbeing. By putting their needs first, we create a positive, supportive environment where our horses can thrive. Their health and happiness are essential to the safe, high-quality experiences we provide for our riders and carriage drivers.
Our horses and ponies are chosen for their patience and calm temperaments – a phenomenal bunch.
Fancy a visit to the Stables with your school or group? We welcome groups of all shapes and sizes, and would love to introduce you all to our wonderful ponies. Spend time learning about the horses, meet them all, try grooming or even have a ride. As a certified Riding for the Disabled Association stables, we support children of all abilities and can adapt our sessions to meet the needs of your group.

Sponsor a Calvert Stables pony and help support the life-enhancing work of our wonderful equine friends. Ensuring our four-legged fleet is in tip-top condition is expensive. Support the vital benefits they provide to our guests through regular giving and positively contribute to the continued success of our thriving stables.
We wouldn’t be able to offer the incredible equine events and experiences that we do without our exceptional Calvert Stables team.
