Louise Dunn PhD

Louise joined as a Trustee of LDCT in November 2021. She applied to join the Calvert Trust so that she could support its vital work in enabling access to the outdoors for people with physical and mental disability.   Her skills include change management, business strategy, communications, public relations, marketing, fundraising, public engagement, people development and employee engagement.   With a degree in Biochemistry,  Louise worked in the pharmaceutical industry for most of her career, eventually leading Communication for the Global Research and Development division at GlaxoSmithKline, she then moved to the NHS as Director of Marketing and Communications for  Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust and the Alder Hey Children’s Charity.  In 2018 Louise returned to academia to do research into the areas of her professional interests and 2022, and was awarded a PhD for her research into effective communication around complex and controversial science during the COVID19 pandemic. She is qualified to teach in Higher Education and has lectured in health and social care at Edge Hill University and Cumbria University. 

Louise lives close to the Calvert Trust’s stables. She enjoys all things outdoors and is an active participant in the local community, She was elected as a Keswick Town Councillor in 2022 (serving as Mayor of Keswick from May 2024-2026) and in this role she, alongside the other Town Councillors, acts as an advocate for local residents and champions local causes.
